Harvard Community Unit School District 50 is excited to welcome Scott Walton as its new Director of Human Resources. Walton brings extensive experience in education and a passion for building strong relationships within the school community.
“I am thrilled to be joining the #HarvardRising team!” Walton said. “Building connections with staff, students, and families is essential to creating a welcoming and supportive environment. I look forward to working with this incredible team and getting to know the community.”
Walton has spent his career supporting teachers, students, and families in various leadership roles. As Principal and Bilingual Director at Algonquin Road Elementary, he helped improve teaching strategies, professional development, and communication between educators and parents. Before that, as Assistant Principal at Westgate Elementary, he supported teachers through evaluations, led student intervention programs, and introduced restorative discipline practices to create a more positive school environment. He also spent years in the classroom at Mechanics Grove Elementary, where he took on leadership roles, including serving as union president.
As Director of HR, Walton will focus on hiring, staff retention, and creating a positive and supportive work environment. His leadership will help CUSD 50 continue to strengthen its team and serve its students and families.
"Hiring Scott is an exciting step forward for D50,” said Superintendent Dr. Corey Tafoya. “He brings a deep understanding of what makes schools thrive, and his leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our district. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team!”
