What is the Seal of Biliteracy?
The Seal of Biliteracy is an official recognition awarded to high school students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one additional language. This distinction appears on diplomas and transcripts, offering students an advantage in college admissions and career opportunities.
Why is the Seal of Biliteracy Important?
Recognizes and values bilingualism as an asset
Provides students with a competitive edge for college and job applications
May qualify students for college credit at participating institutions
Encourages students to develop and maintain multiple language skills
Who is Eligible?
To earn the Seal of Biliteracy, students must demonstrate proficiency in English and a second language using approved assessments.
