Harvard High School hosts first College & Military Fair
On Thursday March 9, 2023 Harvard High School hosted their first College & Military Fair with over forty colleges and universities, and all military branches in attendance. CUSD 50 partn
ered with Woodstock and Woodstock North High Schools in District 200 to provide an event in which those colleges and military branches could visit two venues and cover students from three different schools and allowed representatives to visit high schools all around the McHenry County area.
Sophomores, juniors and undecided seniors were invited to attend, of which almost two-hundred and seventy participated in the event. A number and engagement rate that Director of College and Career Readiness Maura Bridges was very proud of, “The colleges and military branches really came through and our students made great connections learning about the opportunities they have.”
Principal of Harvard High School Carl Hobbs also commented saying, “Speaking to students after the fair, they commented on how easy it was to talk with so many different schools in one place. A sophomore said they had never thought about college until this fair and now they are excited about all of the possibilities.”
Based on the turnout and positive feedback from both attendees and exhibitors, the district plans to make this an annual event.
