Cozy Up with a Good Book 2025

In Play Based Learning, Rose students are learning all about community helpers! Mrs. Rudolf drove the bus and took students in the Rose room all around the community. Students got to be bus drivers, police officers, bakery workers, construction workers, and even mail workers.

Students in Mrs. Nulle's class loved learning about the giant balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Then, they created their own balloons and paraded around the school.

Tomorrow’s the night! 🌙✨ Cozy Up With A Good Book will be on Google Meets from 6:00 to 7:30. 📚💻 Every student will take home a QR code to scan, an activity sheet, and a sweet surprise! 📲 ¡Mañana es la noche! La noche para acurrucarse con un libro será en Google Meets de 6:00 a 7:30. Cada estudiante llevará a casa un código QR para escanear, una hoja de actividades y una dulce sorpresa.

We’re continuing to build our skills in solving addition problems — this time by learning about equations, working as a team, and having fun along the way!

Kindergarten math students worked on an activity last week about addition, with numbers up to 5 through a hot potato game, all kindergarten students working together to learn!

Please send your child with jacket, snow pants, boots, hat, and gloves/mittens each day. We will go outside unless temperatures are extremely low, and students must have all items to play in the snow.

Cozy Up with a Book Night!
📚 When: Tuesday, December 2, from 6:00–7:30 PM

👧🏽 Who: Students in grades PreK–5 (Washington, Crosby, and Jefferson)

Collaboration in action! Students in Mrs. Tittle’s class worked together, using text evidence and Post-it notes to build strong answers. #collaboration #CrosBees

Ms. Porras provides support and collaboration within the classroom, working alongside teachers to help all students participate, grow, and shine in their own unique way.

She brings creative, student-centered strategies that reinforce learning, introduce new skills, and support each child’s individual strengths. With personalized approaches, visual tools, and ongoing guidance, Ms. Porras helps create an environment where every student can learn at their own pace and in the way that works best for them.

Third Graders studied mealworms in STEM class. They observed its life cycle stages from mealworm to beetle, investigated their preference for light or dark surfaces, measured the mealworm's length, asked thoughtful questions and had a lot of fun! #STEM #CrosBees

First Graders practiced communication and creativity in STEM class. They had to ask and answer questions about themselves and then use materials to design their name. #STEM #CrosBees

Our little Kinder eco-heroes are learning to recycle and take care of our planet! 🌍💚 ♻️ #CrosBees

Ms. Mercado & Mrs. Garay’s classes have been learning about quick changes to land in science. Students have been learning through hands on experiences. They made models of volcanic eruptions and learned about earthquake effects. 🌋🌎

Given string, a toilet paper roll, tape and clothespins, Second Graders in STEM Class had to design an escape plan for their turkeys without touching it! #STEM #CrosBees

✨📚 Thank you to everyone who came out for our Family Fun Night of Reading! We had an amazing turnout and so much fun with all the glow activities. Such a great night! 💡🌟

Learning with Our Bodies and Imagination:

Today in Miss Miguel’s room, we worked on letters in a very fun way! The children played at forming letters with their own bodies, exploring their shapes while repeating their sounds. One of our students even wanted to step into the role of the teacher, saying the letter out loud and encouraging her classmates to create it with their bodies. It was such a special moment!
Activities like this are not only exciting for them, but they also come with many benefits:
✨ Encourages gross motor development
✨ Strengthens visual and auditory memory
✨ Helps connect letter–sound in a meaningful way
✨ Promotes creativity and teamwork
✨ Boosts confidence by giving them opportunities to lead

Aprendiendo con el cuerpo y la imaginación:

Hoy en clase de Miss Miguel hemos trabajado las letras de una forma muy divertida. Los niños jugaron a formar las letras con su propio cuerpo, explorando sus formas mientras repetían su sonido. Incluso una de nuestras alumnas quiso ponerse en el papel de profesora, diciendo la letra en voz alta y animando a sus compañeros a crearla con su cuerpo.
Este tipo de actividades no solo les encanta, sino que además tiene muchos beneficios:
